Variable Speed Drive or Soft Starter ?

Many of our customers ask which option they should consider, Variable frequency drive or Soft Starter.

This all depends on the application. Basically the rule of thumb is that if you do not have a requirement to vary the speed of the motor, then the Soft Start is the option for you. If however you need to accurately control the speed of the motor, then you need to down the VSD route.

Bearing in mind that Soft Starters are considerably cheaper than a Variable frequency Drive, this can be a major factor in the decision making process.
